I have created an add-in for Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader that tries to give the same word count
statistics as MS Word. It creates a menu item "Word Count" in the tools menu.
Installation
1) Download the javascript file here.
2) Copy the file into your Adobe folder. The folder depends on your version of Acrobat:
Adobe Acrobat 7: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Acrobat\Javascripts
Adobe Reader 7: C\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\Javascripts
Adobe Reader 8: C\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader\Javascripts
For other versions of Acrobat, look for a folder called Javascripts.
